Hondo is a city in and the county seat of Medina County, Texas. According to the 2020 Census, the population was 8,289. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Hondo was first settled in 1881 and incorporated in 1942.
Medina County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 50,748. Its county seat is Hondo.[2] The county is named for the Medina River. The extreme northern part of the county lies within the Edwards Plateau, which elevates into the Texas Hill Country.
